The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Among L. Frank Baum's sixty books, most of which are for children, are eighteen which Baum wrote for girls, under the pseudonym Edith Van Dyne. Better known, of course, are Baum's Oz books, a series in which he wrote fourteen volumes. Baum worked as a journalist, actor, poultry farmer, and traveling salesman before success as a journalist gave him the financial stability to become a full-time writer, which he remained until his death at 62.
